involving the heart, lungs, esophagus and the mediastinum. In particular, we specialize
in CT- guided biopsy of thoracic nodules and masses; perform bronchoscopy and endobronchial
tumor resection and stenting, esophageal stenting, and video-assisted thoracoscopic
surgery (VATS) of the lung, esophagus, and other mediastinal tumors. We also perform
chest wall reconstruction for pectus deformity and minimally invasive sympathectomy
for hyperhydrosis.
Our mission
Our mission is to deliver outstanding healthcare with an individualized and caring
approach. We are committed to serving each patient's physical and emotional needs
throughout diagnosis, treatment, recovery and rehabilitation. Our surgeons coordinate
the efforts of anesthesiologists, oncologists, radiation oncologist, pulmonologists
and gastroenterologists to deliver an individualized and interdisciplinary plan
for each patient. We are aided in this effort by our nurse practitioners and patient
navigators, who are also available as valuable resources to assist in the education
and coordination of care for patients. Utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and
outstanding medical services and consultants, our surgeons are able to offer the
most up-to-date techniques and care available in the world. We are committed to
improve upon our recent accomplishments and lead the field of thoracic surgery in
the 21st century.
The lung cancer specialists at the Eliana Center are on the cutting edge of developments
regarding lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Eliana Center at St. Luke's and
Roosevelt Hospitals and Beth Israel Medical Center is part of Continuum Cancer Centers of New York.
Although lung cancer has historically been difficult to treat, advances in both
treatment and symptom management make this an exciting and hopeful time.
The most important characteristic of treatment at the Eliana Center is our multidisciplinary
approach to lung cancer. Our outstanding treatment teams include surgeons, radiation
oncologists and medical oncologists, as well as a variety of other health professionals
such as pulmonologists and pain medicine specialists. At Eliana, the lung cancer
team holds weekly patient case conferences at which new cases are presented and
the entire team uses its expertise to devise the best, individualized plan for each
patient.
